New manager, longer hours for Radio Cabs

06 Nov, 2009 01:23 PM
New management for Wellington Radio Cabs is set to see the business now operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Local man Rodney Musgrove has taken over as manager of the local taxis and said the new hours would improve the service to the community.

“The hours (we had before) weren’t good enough,” he

said.

“No-one could catch a taxi when they needed to.

“I certainly hope business goes up now.”

Previously employed as a car detailer, Mr Musgrove’s change of career has given him a new sense of excitement.

“The opportunity just came up,” he said.

“I never thought I’d be managing a business.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

The 33-year-old believes the service offered by the radio cabs is crucial in towns such as Wellington.

“It is fairly important,” he said.

“It is the only form of public transport except for a bus which comes through town each day.

“The taxi rank is at the same area too.”

With two cabs in town, Friday and Saturday nights are expected to be busy.

“If anyone has any complaints or ideas on how to improve the service they can call and submit them,” Mr Musgrove said.

“I would like to thank the previous manager, and wish him all the best for the future.”

To book a radio cab call 131 008.
