Local sisters set sights on bright, starry career

24 Jun, 2009 12:14 PM
Aymey-May Rymer has been reaching for the stars since she was five years old.

She is now eight and has been told by directors of short films that she is a natural and may have a long successful career ahead of her.

“I want to be an actor when I grow up,” Miss Rymer said.

“I like doing it.”

So far Aymey-May has featured in three short films with the International Film School in Sydney, and was only five years old when she did her first one.

“The movies were Teddy, No Escape and Chiaroscuro,” Aymey-May said.

“I had a model shoot in May and I

have two casting agencies interested in me.”

Aymey-May’s younger sister Kiara is following in her footsteps by acting as an extra in a short film called Sweet Marshall with Aymey-May, which aired at Hoyts Cinema in April.

The girls’ mother Lynda Horlyck said her daughters were very keen on acting.

“She (Kiara) is only five years old and loves to act like her sister,” Ms Horlyck said.

“Aymey-May was watching a show on television one day and she said to me ‘I want to do that’.”

“We then came across www.starnow.com.au website and within weeks she was registered.

“At Aymey-May’s first audition and screen test the producer and director asked how long had she been acting, and couldn’t believe it was her first time as she really impressed them.

“Both girls also had roles in feature film Passion Love Beauty made by Garnet Mae of Rayon Productions which went to Cannes Film festival recently,” Ms Horlyck said.

The sisters are also into modelling.

“They both modelled with three photographers - Shinara Armitage, Alex Fransisco and Serge Kozak - in May. Alex made a comment regarding Aymey-May that she is a natural in front of a camera and she is going to go far when she is older,” Ms Horlyck said.

Aymey-May said despite being so young, she did not get nervous before an audition or going on screen.

“I’m not nervous,” Aymey-May said.

“I’m very confident.”

Ms Horlyck is pleased with her daughters’ achievements.

“I am very proud of my daughters,” she said.

“It was so weird to see them on the big screen at the premiers, but exciting.”
