It was an exciting day for a very special, local boy on Saturday, when six-year-old Cooper McNeill was granted a wish from the Make A Wish Foundation.
This foundation’s aim is to bring magic and joy to children with a life-threatening illness by granting a cherished wish.
The presentation was held at fast food restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), in which food was also donated, thanks to manager Candice Parsons.
Cooper and his family were presented with a trip to the Gold Coast in Queensland, visiting famous theme parks such as Dream World and Sea World, and the late Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo.
Cooper seemed a little overwhelmed with the attention and presents he and his two siblings were receiving, but was keen to go and see all the animals.
“I will see dolphins at Sea World and animals and snakes and giraffes at the zoo!”
Parents Coral and Guy were astounded by the foundation’s generosity, thankful for granting their wish.
Wish granting co-ordinator Tanya Locke was happy to see a smile on the family’s face.
“Really, it’s our pleasure.”
The family leave later this month for their weeklong trip by plane and will stay at a ocean view hotel.
