Councillor Shirley Drsydale and the ratepayers she has been answering will be delighted the Swift Street Plaza reconstruction is underway.

Meanwhile, improvements to the central business district and Cameron Park will be discussed at council’s meeting in the project monitoring area.

Trial repairs to fences are also being completed. In the future, technical services director Owen Johns notes that tree surrounds are on the agenda.

“The project was delayed by nine months due to natural disaster road restoration works,” he said.

Corporate services and acting general manager Karen Roberts will update councillors on the regional roads and how wet weather and flood damage in November and December increased the need for tar patching.

In relation to urban road sealing, moves have been made to undertake shoulder grading and heavy patching, a contractor has been, with a seal design by contractor, and line marking to take place after the resealing.

Council has also begun work on the Warne and Arthur street garden plots, with the turf area and additional seating in shaded areas near trees to be done.
