Conference organisers happy with response to Thirsty? event

The Christian Outreach Centre witnessed an increase in numbers as people from across the State converged on the facility for its first Thirsty? Conference.

The four-day conference was centred on the theme of worship, with attendees taking the opportunity to learn and pray with special guests Pastors Jason and Glenda Hare.

The visiting couple travelled to Wellington from Kingslake in Victoria where they have been located since the deadly Black Saturday fires heading up some of the emergency relief through Global Care.

Prior to helping in Victoria they completed a nine-month worldwide tour where they travelled to 23 countries ministering through music at huge conferences consisting of thousands of people.

Conference organiser Pastor Colin Russell said the Hares had been happy to accept the invitation to the Thirsty? event.

“I’ve been involved with Glenda and Jason a few different times and have known them for about 10 years,” Pastor Russell said.

“I asked them in August last year … we’re so blessed to have people who travel around the world in Jason and Glenda here in Wellington.”

Throughout the conference, guests attended sessions which involved whole band playing, ministering through music, preaching and teaching.

“We’ve had a great time,” Pastor Russell said.

“We have seen miracles of healing … one person who has been in pain for a long time we prayed for last night and is now completely healed. That is not the focus but it is what happens and what God does.”

Pastor Russell is now hoping to make the conference an annual event and is hoping to increase the number of people participating from different congregations.

“We’re only starting now, but it will definitely grow,” he said.

“The important thing is to bring people from all types of churches to town to worship God. I’m definitely looking forward to next year and what that will bring.”
