Company delegates to update council

08 Jun, 2011 09:37 AM
Two representatives from Eastern Star Gas will be at the Wellington Council’s Strategic and Planning review committee tonight to update progress on the proposed pipeline from Wellington to Narrabri.

The Times understands Brett Peterkin and Joe Barrett will discuss environmental assessment updates, pipeline options - at the moment there are four - and are being looked at by the Federal and State governments currently.

“The pipeline is contingent on ongoing discussions and negotiations with ERM Power, which are progressig very well,” Peter Fox from Eastern Star said.

Eastern Star has two pipelines being considered currently from Narrabri to Wellington and another in the Coolah to Newcastle regions.

The Times understands the construction of the ERM gas-fired power plant may begin in 2013 while Eastern Star would feed gas to it through its pipeline in 2014.

However the two representatives will talk before an “public access session” of council tonight from 6pm and councillors will ask questions about the pipeline.

The Times will report details of the outome in fridays edition and on the website.
