A man driving an unregistered sedan with six passengers on board – including two toddlers – has lead police on a 135km pursuit through the State’s Central West overnight.
Police were shocked to discover two children under the age of five were among seven people in the vehicle when it finally stopped near Molong.
The incident began about 6.30pm when a Highway Patrol officer saw a green 1975-model Toyota Lexcen sedan allegedly travelling at high speed along Burrendong Way at Euchareena, about 40km north of Orange.
A pursuit was initiated and reached speeds of up to 150km/hr but was terminated when the driver allegedly drove through Wellington township at 100km/hr in a 50km/hr zone.
The vehicle was followed south along the Mitchell Highway and ended only when it skidded to a stop after hitting an embankment near Amaroo Road, 6km south of Molong.
Police then discovered there were seven people in the car at the time: the 23-year-old driver, two women, a 13-year-old boy and two children aged under five.
A check of the man’s licence revealed it was suspended until 2025.
